The Northwest Setnetters Association (NWSA), established in 1989, advocates for the commercial salmon setnet fishery in the Northwest District of the Kodiak Salmon Management Area. NWSA works with salmon setnet fishermen, fishing families and regulatory agencies to sustain the biological health and economic viability of Kodiak’s salmon setnet fishery. NWSA also promotes recognition of the historical, cultural and economic significance of the setnet fishery to the Kodiak Island community and the State of Alaska.
